I've been in the market for a bluetooth mouse to accessorize my Powerbook. I specifically wanted wireless without a USB dongle to plug in.
After looking at a bunch of mice I ended up getting the Apple Wireless Bluetooth mouse.
Now that I've been using it I'm very happy with it. It tracks extremely nice and is very smooth with no obvious latency. The "on/off" switch is nice for traveling.
I was concerned that the lack of a scroll-wheel would be a problem, but using the two finger scrolling on the trackpad in conjunction with the mouse turns out to work just fine. (I prefer the two finger slide-job better than a scroll wheel anyway!)
I've never minded not having a right-mouse button on a mac ....
Overall .... extremely happy with my choice.

I just got a MacMice bluetooth mouse..it is exactly like the Apple one, but has two buttons and a scroll wheel. It is VERY nice...also has an On/Off switch.
I can't stand not having tow buttons and a scroll wheel. This mouse comes in silver (to go with my Powerbook) or white.
Highly recommended.

I'm thinking about getting one of these for my dad's birthday, and everything I've read has been positive about it.

I've heard a lot of negatives as well ......
the "click" sound when you depress a key is louder than the already-loud apple mouse.
the build quality feels cheaper [plastic] than apple's.
some instances of sleep/waking up, problems.
and the fact that you just continually kill off batteries is kind of a turn off.

^ very innovative. You can use a USB cord to power the bluetooth mouse when you're low on battery. too bad the design couldn't be better.

Well, I had the BT500 for my Powerbook and it worked flawlessly for me. No wake problems, great battery life, great feel.
Then I switched back to a desktop and decided to try the other Bluetake mouse, the BT510, a slightly larger version of the BT500. Nothing but problems pairing it with Tiger, so I think my particular mouse might have been defective. Radtech was very nice about troubleshooting it with me, and eventually I decided I would return it for a refund.
So now I am trying out the DVForge MacMice "Mouse BT". Heavier and more solid-feeling than the BT510. But of course, my search for the perfect mouse is never ending. This mouse "sticks" when you click it, and since the whole top surface is divided into two partial buttons, there is not much travel when clicking the button, which causes uncertainty as to whether you have clicked it or not. Or a delay, as the button stays clicked even when your finger has released off the mouse. Scroll wheel works well. Paired fine with Tiger.
Hello Apple!
Please make a friggin two button scroll wheel mouse that is perfect!

I can only confirm. I bought a MacMice BT Mouse and threw it away after two weeks. It was the crappiest mouse I've ever had. I'm using a Logitech MX900 now and it's a lot better.

Definitely. OTOH the scroll wheel doesn't have that 'click-feel' all other mice have, giving you no feedback if you're scrolling or not.

It's a whole lot cheaper. It resembles Apple's mouse pretty well, but it feels nowhere as nice. It's flimsy.

Didn't have that myself.

Yep. I killed a pair of batteries in 8 days. And those weren't the cheap suckers I got with it when I bought it. And yes, I manually (!!!) turned it off over night.

My wife has one on her iMac G5 (along with the Apple BT keyboard). She likes it very much.

i wish more BT mouses utilized a USB cord (when battery is low) and/or recharged the batteries via USB ....
i can't justify [environmentally] throwing out batteries every month ...
