Aloha,

A few weeks ago the numbers on my numpad stopped working. The =/*-+ all work but no numbers. This is on the same Apple Pro Keyboard that I've had for almost 2 years and prior to this happening had used the numpad daily. It's as if the numlock is on even though it's not.

I assumed this meant my 2 year old Apple keyboard had a problem. I bought a new MacAlly IceKey keyboard and installed the drivers for OSX. Same thing, the numbers on the numpad don't work.

I've done every trouble shooting technique I know, repaired permissions, repaired permissions on the start up disk, did the Apple-Option-P-R for 4 chimes, ran Disk Warrior and even did the Apple Hardware Test disk.

Everything tested out fine. And the problem persists, the numbers don't work on the numpad for either keyboard. It's a hassle and also prevents me from playing CIV III.

What can I do to fix the situation? Could any software that I downloaded and installed around the time the problem started be to blame? Is that even possible?

This is the first and only problem I've ever had with my PowerMac in 2 years of ownership.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

System Preferences -> Universal Access -> mouse -> Mouse keys: *off

That might be what you need, make sure "press option key 5 times to turn mouse keys on or off" is disabled too.
