I just upgraded to Tiger, and tried to pair a bluetooth headset with my iMac. It said "your hardware does not support bluetooth headsets".
I have the D-link adapter that they sell at Apple stores, and supposedy offered the same feature set. I guess they don't.
Bummer.

Did it work under Panther? I had to install a firmware upgrade for the D-Link before headsets were supported under Panther.

I thought I was using the latest firmware, but I'll check that out. For some reason I was under the impression that headsets weren't supported at all in Panther.

Sure enough, getting to the latest firmware enabled me to use a bluetooth headset. I must not have been up to date before. Thanks!
Now if only I could use my Mac as a BT headset for my phone... then we'd really be in business.

OK, I know there has been 2 D-Link BT adaptors, a DWB-120 and a DBT-120M, I can't remember which of these is the older type, but I have the older one (freebie back when I bought a Palm Tungsten T). I understand that the older model doesn't work with the Apple BT keyboard and mouse, does this adapter also not work with headsets? If it doesn't then that answers the problem I have with my iTech BT headset not working with my Mac. The mac sees it when scanning for bluetooth devices, but does not recognise it. I'm pretty sure I have the latest BT firmware and software, I'm running 10.3, waiting for Tiger.

I have a Jabra BT 250 headset, and it worked great under Panther. Under Tiger, it pairs up fine with my PowerBook, but it does not show up as a sound input/output device in the System Preferences sound panel. Anyone have any idea how to get it to work?

I get the same message - I'm also on Tiger, but on a PowerBook G4 with built-in Bluetooth support - so the firmware update for the D-link module is no help to me, unfortunately.
I've checked, and I have all the latest firmware updates, they came with Tiger, and I'm using a Motorola HS810 wireless headset.
I am looking for a work-around or solution if anyone has run into this problem.
Many thanks,

I have the Jabra BT200 and it worked fine under 10.3.9. After a clan install to 10.4 and then to 10.4.1, it pairs fine with the DLink adapter (latest firmware), BUT it too does not appear in the Tiger sound panel. Move the whole setup back to 10.3.9 on a PowerBook and it works fine again.
It seems that Tiger 10.4 breaks the Jabra BT headsets.
Anybody else seen this.

Apple discussions (Tiger intall and setup) has 21 posts about loss of BT connections in the Sound In/Out preferences with Tiger (10.4 and 10.4.1) so it seems like it is an official Tiger BUG—goddam it because I can't use my headset with Skype.

WRONG! I didn't, they don't come with Tiger - once I ran the Bluetooth Firmware Updater, it went to Apple and found the latest, 1.6.0f2, and now I'm doing fine.
I hope that's a help - cheers,

I have just searched the entire Apple site for both 1.6.0f2 and Bluetooth 1.6.0f2 and Bluetoorh firmware. The latest versions are 1.5 for Bluetooth software and 1.2 for the firmware so could you be more specific about what exactly 1.6.0f2 is and where on the site you found it?

I just had another final go at this problem (after somebody replied to my post on XLR8yourmac.com using) with the following sequence and now the Jabra BT200 appears in Sound prefs and works with iChat and Skype
1. Deleted all existing BT devices (Jabra BT200 and Microsoft BT Intellimouse)
2. Rebooted into OF
3. Ran reset-nvram and reset-all
4. Completed boot
5. Paired Jabra BT200 with DLink 120 using headset profile
6. Paired MS mouse using mouse profile
7. Went to Sound preferences and now found Jabra BT200 in Sound preferences and set Input and Output.
8. Tested iChat and Skype—both working
It is obviously some sort of BT oddity/bug that seems fixed this time by this method. Hope it lasts.
