I'll be receiving a 160gig HD and firewire/usb 2 enclosure from Newegg, on thursday. I will need to use this with both PCs and Macs waht is the best way to format the drive (FAT32, MAC OS Extended, NTFS, etc...)? The drive will be holding a lot of big and small files so I think that rules out FAT32 and I don't think MAC OS X'll recognize NTFS so I'm sorta stuck!
Thanks, indigo

Well, HFS+ won't be recognized by Windows without additional software. NTFS can be read but not written from what I understand. FAT32 may be your only good choice (it is really so horrible for you purposes?).

If you don't need to share the drive amongst multiple PCs, consider getting MacDrive 6 for Windows. It'll let you read/write to Mac formatted media on your PC. Then you could format the disk as an HFS+ volume (and not have to worry about lost/deleted resource forks from certain Mac files).
