Greetings,

I was doing some searching for a USB -> Infrared adapter I could use to transfer files from an old camera watch my wife got me a few years ago. I have been unable to find one that says it has any sort of Mac Compatability. After searching the forums I found no true answer to the issue either.

Can it be there is no way to do this in OSX? That's plain silly if so...The greatest OS since sliced bread and I can't transfer some files over infrared

IR is really slow and a battery hog.

Is this something you only want to do one time? Does the camera have any other ports?

The only method of transfer on this particular camera is infrared other wise I would have no interest in it. IR is a battery hog, but modern IR isn't really that slow at 4Mbit, however the line of sight thing is also a bit anoying too.

Dispite its draw backs I still assume there is some way to facilitate it on OSX.

You could try the roundabout way. Check with a camera shop or printer and see if they can access the camera files and burn them to a CD. Then import them that way.

You could also google for IR adaptors but if they're around, they're as common as floppy discs these days.

http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Infrared.html, maybe this helps ? I guess they get recognised by the OS as an IR port without any drivers, just like those USB Bluetooth dongles.
