Hello.

I'm looking for a decent FireWire (400 or 800) Enclosure for my 160GB hard drive. I got one yesterday, but this thing is very cheaply made, and I'm sure won't withstand much moving around. I'm looking for something with quality (preferably aluminum or the better quality plastic), which supports big drives and obviously compatible with Tiger (not sure about the best chipset now).

I was looking at these Macally enclosures:

Macally PHR-100AC

Macally PHR-100AF

Any suggestions?

I have both an aluminum and plastic enclosure that I got from newegg. If you move around I would stay far away from the Aluminum coolmax that I use. Its a great enclosure but the one time I traveled with it the HD managed to disconnect from the IDE adapter. The plastic one I have also works really well and is better suited for travel (smaller and lighter).
Here are links to two similar looking enclosures that I have. In each case I have the combo firewire usb model.

Those look good (and reasonably priced), but unfortunately, I don't have USB 2.0 on my eMac.

I have the Macally AF you mention, and I like it. No power switch, though.

I have two Mercury Elite cases from Other World Computing. Not the cheepest but I haven't had any problems for the last 4 years. Plus I think they look the best on my desk.

I use them for backup and video editing.
