Hi...
I am waiting for my Power Mac 2.7 to arrive, and was thinking about ordering the Altec Lansing FX-6021 2.1 speakers, when I saw this test
http://schwarztech.us/reviews/alteclansingfx6021.shtml
Where the guy testing the speaker wrote about a slight hiss when there is no audio, can anyone verify this ? is it common for this speaker?
As sound is very important for me I will not be able to live with the hiss when there is no signal.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have had these speakers for a good two months now. Just like the article in your link comments, great, crystal clear sound, no distortion even when the volume is cranked up. I did notice a very slight hiss when there is no audio, but is virtually undetectable when the speakers are playing. There is a control pod and remote you can keep handy to turn speakers off if the hiss bothers you when speakers are on but not in use.
The article implied that there might be a way to remedy the hiss by by-passing the audio/headphone jack all together via usb input.

Maybe my PowerMac is too loud, but I have not heard any hissing.
So far, so great.
