Heya'll: I've got an interesting little problem and I'm wondering if all you lovely people might be able to give a little advice:

I've got a LAserJet 4M+ with a Jet Direct Card. I bought it off a mid-west university via eBay, It's running about 80k pages, and was doing fine, save an empty toner cart. I purchased a referb toner cart, and it seemed to do great. Then I had the good fortune to stumble on a Duplexer for the unit - something I've always wanted. Hooked it up - and it works GREAT. I love it. Now last week I've had the good fortune again to upgrade my computer to Mac OS X 10.4. I love it too. But somewhere in those upgrades, something happened to my printer. Now, when ever a sheet of gray is needed in a print out, rather then just printing lightly, it's printing white with fine dots. But way, way too visibly. A grid I printed in Pages (and Word too) with alternating light-and-dark grays show basically white with little dots on white with bigger darker dots. Now for text, this printer still does an awesome job. Same with dark black areas or dark lines. But the thinner ones it gets spotty.

Now, comes the very annoying part:

I tried my Windows 2000 box... and it's printing things perfectly! Lines aren't "Dotty", gray is gray, and things look good.

So any ideas? It sounds like an OS problem, but I'm really not sure. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

-B. Hansen
