I went to fire-up my FWHD today to do my biweekly backup and nothing happened. It won't mount. The FWHD makes all the normal startup noises. Tried to see if Disk Utility could see it and it didn't show up their either. Checked all the connections and ran TTP and still nothing.

Any ideas? Using OS 10.3.9 with MDD G4. Have already done 2 backups since upgrading to 10.3.9 but today nothing.

I took the FW HD to the local Apple Store and plugged it into one of their units. Mounted and all data is intact so it must be something on the G4 side of things.

long shot. but my ext FW drive's blue light will turn "on" if i flip the switch to "on" only problem is that its not really plugged in. the power is being gotten from the FW bus. I still needed to plug the unit into the wall.

this has happened to me more than once as i was not paying attention. make sure everthing is plugged in.

Problem solved. Reset the PRAM and now FWHD mounts normally again.
