Hi, everyone! I just purchased the new SE S710a from Cingular. I paid much more than I ever thought I would for a phone, but I just loved the camera and the swivel style. I haven't had much time to play around with it, and I thought I'd check to see what you guys think of the phone. How is the call/signal quality? What kind of battery life do you get? How well does it sync with Tiger? Just give me some feedback on the phone, and make me feel better about spending $400 on a phone and signing my soul over to Cingular for two years. So far...the only thing I dislike about it is the bulk. It's kind of uncomfortable in my pockets. I've actually contemplated exchanging it for a Motorola Razr V3. How well does the Razr sync with Tiger? Any other phone I should check out? Thanks for any guidance/feedback!
Rob

I like the phone but when I saw someone with it I realized it is way to bulky to carry around in your pocket. The guy I saw it with had it around his neck like a camera.

You know...along with a decent camera, bluetooth, cool design, etc....do you think it would have been too difficult to include decently operating phone components? I mean...this is a phone we're talking about. I'm getting horrible signals in my apartment, while my roommate, who has one of the free Cingular phones, gets a full signal everywhere in the building! If I move three inches, the signal fluctuates by multiple bars. Why am I always paying more for phones and getting crappier service? Do all the extra components affect the call/signal quality or what? I'm frustrated, and Cingular is about to have a $400 return on their hands. Do you fellow S710a owners get decent signals?

I have a K700i and before that I had a T610. I've found that SE phones tend to have worse signal quality than many other phones. The S710 looks amazing but I agree about the bulkiness.
Anyway, I've found http://www.howardforums.com/ to be a good resource for phones.

Ditto. My t68i couldn't get a signal at my house if I threatened to flush it down a Wal*Mart toilet.
I gave up on the s710a once I saw how thick it was. Now that I hear it has sorry reception, I feel like I dodged a bullet.
Motorola should be introducing the SLVR in the next few months. It's supposed to be a Class 10 EDGE phone with Bluetooth.

I used a SE 710 today. I like the idea about it but there are a couple large negatives for me.
It is really bulky and heavy.
The flip isn't intuitive, is is a twist and not a slide. The problem is if you are holding it closed reading the screen and you want to get to the keypad you have to twist the screen to upside down key to it. This makes you have to flip the phone in your hand and have it upside down in the end.

One thing I don't like about S710a (we call it S700i here) is that it's too bulky, the Memory Stick only supports up to 128MB, and the camera only up to 1.3 mega-pixels.
The latest camera I bought yesterday was SonyEricsson's K750i, it has 2.0 mega-pixels camera, can support up to 2GB of Memory Stick Duo. Same display resolution as S700a. And most important, it's much compact than S700a.

Ya that is totally strange. The 710 came out way to late as by the time it shipped now you can have a TINY 750 with better picture anyway.

I'm not able to get this phone to work with Address Book, either sending SMS or dial #s.
Any ideas? Also, where can I get the unlocked K750i cheap?
Thanks

I'm getting a SE 710 by this weekend. $99 from Cingular also. I'll post a small review when I do get it since I don't really see any in these forums.
