Bluetooth mouse slow to wake with Tiger

I have searched the forum for a solution to this problem but no one seems to have the same situation.
Since upgrading to Tiger my bluetooth mouse (microsoft) which worked perfectly under Panther has been taking over 15 seconds to wake up after non-use periods. How can I solve this bluetooth issue? Firmware update?
I have updated to the most recent bluetooth firmware BEFORE upgrading to Tiger. I dont believe that there were any updates between then and now.
