Okay here's the deal. I purchased a D-link USB hub around christmas time last year. I did this because I purchased a sonica theater external audio card and needed some extra USB ports for that and some of my other peripherals (basically got tired of plugging and unplugging everything. At the time I assumed most/all powered USB hubs were the same. I was slightly dismayed when I found out that the D-link hub didn't send out enough power to power the sonica theater (powered by USB), my powered external DVD burner, my canon LIDE scanner (powered by USB), or my pen drive... alone or together! Basically the only thing I can use it for is my mouse and my printer. I'd like to know if there's any hubs out there that actually put out enough power to run peripherals? I assume there's something that puts out the same amout of power as my powerbook's built in USB ports (in which all of these devices work. Any suggestions? I know griffon (sp?) technology had a nice looking one up on their site that they said was designed to be used with stand alone sound devices. I was considering this one but wanted some insight first. Please let me know your experiences!

IMHO, Belkin is "da man" for USB hubs.....I've got 2 of their 4port powered hubs, and a 2port PCI card as well.
ALL of them have worked flawlessly for over 3 years.......

and reasonably priced too

Thanks for the suggestion. I know belkin makes quality products, maybe it's time I check out one of their hubs. Kinda pissed that I spent $40 on this D-link piece of trash. I shuold have known to avoid them based on their routers

I have a Belkin 4-port external powered USB hub with my Graphire3 and LiDE 35 scanner. I tried to plug in my D-link Bluetooth dongle, but that drew too much power from the hub and it stopped working. I had to reconfigure my USB setup to plug in other things that were not powered, so I have my digital camera cable and printer cable hooked up to it now, and my bluetooth dongle actually works on my other non-powered USB hub. Kinda lame, I thought the Belkin hub could be more powerful than that (why else buy a POWERED hub?!).

This week I purchased a DLink DUB-H7 powered 7-port USB2 hub and a Sandisk 12-in-1 USB2 Card Reader. I was really surprised when I hooked the card reader to the hub and got the dreaded "low power" message. However, as the old saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I hooked the USB2 from my Dell 2005FPW to the hub and the card reader to a USB2 port on the display. Everything now works perfectly.
