I was over at a friend's house tonight with my new PB doing some support work
along with him with his new Mac and during a lull in the work I tried to access one
of my browsers ... just for the heck of it ... and to my UTMOST surprise I had a
strong signal and connected to the I'net immediately. He definitely does NOT
have Airport! What's up with THAT!?? I thought you needed an Airport nearby
to be able to do that!

No? Yes?

One of his neighbours probably has a wireless network and didn't secure it. So you were able to surf off his network.

When I go up to my in-laws they just have dial-up so i take my laptop and mooch off one of the several open signals where they live. Funny thing is it's in a reitrement mobile home park. I'm not complaining, just find it amusing that around there house (in the middle of the park), there are 4 open networks i get to choose from.
- TiBook 867mhz
- Rev. A Dual 2.0ghz PowerMac G5, 3 Gigs Ram, Dual Dell 24" displays.
- Imac G4 20" with 1 Gig of ram
