So I finally got my 2005FPW today. I have a powermac with a radeon 9000 Pro graphics card. My preview monitor was a standard 17" CRT. I unplugged it and plugged the dell in. All I got was blackness and a thing that said it couldn't support the resolution (or something to that effect). I've been in this situation before so I turned on VoiceOver (command+F5) and spent about 15 minutes moving the mouse blindly trying to change the resolution. I finally managed to luck out on a resolution that did work, it's an ugly and stretched 1344 x 1008 @ 75 hz. System preferences doesn't seem to recognize the monitor, and gives me a bunch of different resolutions (but not the recommend 1680 x 1050!). What do I do? Anyone experience this problem? I need to get it to a resolution that isn't so stretched out, it's giving me a headache... BTW, I'm also running the LCD through a KVM switch so I can switch between my PC and my Mac. Essentially, how do I get System Preferences to display wide-screen mode resolutions??

Any hlep would be greatly appreciated!!

Essentially I just need to figure out how to make Display Preferences realize that I'm running a wide-screen monitor. Right now it doesn't understand that for some reason.

Ah ok, fixed it. I just had to remove it from the KVM switch, and connect it directly to the mac. Once I did that I was able to plug it back in.

Are you using DVI or VGA for input to the monitor? DVI should detect the proper resolution right away, but VGA...does it support wide-screen?

i suppose if the video card supports the WS resolution then it should be able to display on either vga or dvi. great to hear it's working!

I would try unhooking it from the KVM first. Then try resetting the PRAM to see that will help. It might not but it is worth a shot. Also, make sure that your video card can handle the required resolution. I don't know anything about the 9000 but I don't see it not being able to handle it.

Edit: Well, it looks like my idea would have worked
