I'm looking for a small, single-button optical mouse. I just got a mac mini for my son (just turned four) and the Apple Pro Mouse he is currently using is a bit too big for his hands.

There are plenty of small 2-button mice, why confuse him with multiple buttons? I've thought about finding an old "hockey puck" apple mouse, but it's not optical (could get gummy- four year old hands all over the mouse pad) and the roundness of it might me confusing to a brand new mouser.

So- anyone know of anything?

Honestly I haven't seen any single button ones... but consider one of the two button mice anyway, and use a driver like USB Overdrive to disable the wheel and one of the buttons (or make both right and left buttons the same).

Logitech has some nice kid-size mice. They're about 2/3 the size of a normal mouse, and come decorated like a football, soccer ball or ladybug. Fits my kids' hands pretty well.

Get a trackball instead. They're much easier for children to learn and use. My daughter started playing with my trackball when she was 2 and got the hand of it very quickly. Don't worry about the multiple buttons; children are much more adaptable and learn more quickly than adults.

CAn you recommend a good kid sized trackball? I only use the Kensington Expert Mice (TurboMouse user since '88 I think) but I think the ball would be a bit too big for 4 year old hands.
