i have recently purchased a new epson 4000 printer and installed the driver disk that came with it, however when i turn the printer in and select add printer it finds the printer but says driver not installed, it also says searching for new drivers after which a window opens and says new drivers found would you like to reload the browser window, but it still says driver not installed.
i am opperating os x 10.3, can anyone help as i am new to macs and i'm getting very frustrated with a printer that cost 1500.00 and wont work!
thanks

Is the printer connected via USB ?

With Epson, you have to follow the installation steps religiously.

I would:
1) De-install all drivers
2) Disconnect the printer
3) Reboot
4) Reinstall all drivers
5) Reboot
6) ONLY THEN connect printer via USB
7) Open printer config
8) add printer

This at least helped to get my Epson CX4600 recognised and working.

I don't think it's necessarily an epson issue - I get the same exact behavior with my HP 6840. I installed the drivers from the CD-Rom, and also installed the latest drivers (v 2.7.1) from support.hp.com. The OS X printer setup utility will sometimes see the driver when trying to add a new printer, and sometimes it will not. I am also running 10.3 (10.3.9). Very annoying.
