I just got my hands on a FREE desktop PC. I want to take the HD out and buy a enclosure for it. The HD is 40GB only so i want to buy a ghetto $45 OWC case and go super cheapo. Since anything more and it may be better to just a buy a new drive.

What do I need to do? I have no idea on how to proceed. I tried googleing but the sources seemed to be various and unfamiliar. Anybody can link me or give me some tips?

the cheapo OWC case:

buy my r-drive usb 2.0 to ide cable
brand new in box
it is not an enclosure but it will let you hook any ide drive up to it and you can use it like a usb drive

all you do is hook the included ide connector into your hd and plug in the usb which is attached to that
then plug the power adapter into the back of the hd and into an outlet
install included mac drivers and you ready to go with a portable hd (or any ide drive)

thanks for the offer but it looks like i can get a comp USA kit for 29.00:
http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...amp;pfp=SEARCH

or i found a even cheaper 19.99 OWC case:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Century%20Global/35USB2/
(i think this does not come with a power supply, although i already have one from my other FW drive)

anybody have any thoughts on what i should do? i am not an expert at this
