I seem to have issues when I use my thumbdrive on something at work and then get home and it says on my mac, you have inserted a device that cannot be read by this OS or something to that effect. I know a lot of people do this type of thing, back and forth between mac and pc, how do you do it?

I've never had any problems using my flash drive on my work laptop (PC) and iMac.

What OS do you use?

10.4.1 and Xp pro and home. Which machine do you format it on when you erase everything? How do you have it formatted? Mac OSX journaled or what? That may be my problem.

I once had this problem:

i had put stuff (images etc.) on my stick from my pc
then i opened them on a mac, and then i deleted the files on the stick (from the mac)

then i was surprised when i tried to put stuff on it from my pc, because it said that the stick was full (it looked empty)

that's because there were this hidden trash folder (on the stick) that contained the deleted files. Try looking for hidden files on the stick.

The stick i use is a 128Mb buffalo clip drive, I guess that most sticks are fat32 formatted.

I formatted the stick on my PC and it works fine on both, but you end up with the hidden OS X files turning up on the pc

Make sure you eject the drive properly on XP. You have to use the systray icon and Stop USB Device.
