Don't they have punctuation on Windows yet?

Macs have had punctuation since 1984. Welcome to Macintosh.

Which Mac? Various different Macs had/have different kinds of video outputs, which require different adapters to hook up to a TV.

The iMac and iBook will not support the kind of use you're looking for (called "screen spanning", since it uses the second monitor as an ADDITIONAL area, spanning the desktop across both, as opposed to "mirroring", which they can do - same image on both monitors ONLY) without hacking. There are iBook and iMac "screen enhancer" programs out there that will switch on spanning in the graphics card, but note that neither machine is built for this. So, the graphics chips are untested for this function, and cooling isn't designed to handle the additional load to the graphics chips. You will void your warranty and *may* fry your system. Use that software at your own risk ONLY.

For the iMac and iBook, you will need the Apple mini-VGA to video adapter.

For the Mac mini, there is no way to hook up an additional monitor, at all.

Powerbooks can do spanning, but which adapter you need depends on the model.

Same with PowerMacs.
