My iBook RGB port signal works fine with my external monitor. [it is a plasma]

But now that I have PowerBook 15.2 DVI, the same cable hook up [using the cable adapter] does not give desk top image.

PowerBook on monitor only shows background desktop image like sleep image even then the image on the screen of the PowerBook is different then the sleep routine on then the monitor.

And Ideas?

maybe I need to get a differnt adapter a- DVI-TO-ADC adapter - will try this in about a week.

I couldn't make out the third sentence at all, but I think the thing is that the PowerBook allows desktop spanning: the external display is NOT mirroring the built-in one. Try it: you should be able to drag a window from the internal LCD to the left or the right, and it should move to the plasma.

You can change this in the Displays pane of System Preferences, where you can choose a mirroring option.
