Argh! I want to simply purchase either a toslink->mini optical adapter, or cable with the same conenctors so that I can hook up my iMac G5 to my receiver.

I've been to 7 freakin' stores already, nobody has them. Compusa, Best Buy, Radioshack, Circuit City. For crying out loud, this is annoying.

I want it today. I know I can order the darn things, I found a hundred websites that sell them, but paying $8 to ship a $2 adapter and have it in 4 days is not cool.

Has anyone found these in a store? I can't be the only person on earth that needs one.

I just want to have the pleasure of running archived DVDs off my hard drive onto my projector with the glory of surround sound. The only thing stopping me is a tiny plastic plug.

The local non-chain electronics parts shop here has them. See if a local mom-and-pop parts store has them.

But Best Buy and even Wal-Mart carry the cables, with two adapters in the pack to accommodate any configuration. I can't even begin to see how no store you've visited had them.

well I finally found one in a radioshack, though they were marked down as clearance, the package had dust on it and they only had 2 left.

At Best Buy not a single toslink in the store came with the adapters. I read the packages and didn't see any mention of them. Not in the Monster cables at any price range, or the Acoustic Research ones. Obviously they are low priority items these days.

Weird, at the local best buys here, they have them, in the same aisle as discmans and portable MiniDisc recorders.

that is wierd. Stupid Ohio Best Buys.

Ah well, at least I found one. Watching stuff right off the HD in surround sound is darn nice. Now if I could only get the iMac to turn off the monitor while I watch...
