HP has announced that they have come up with new Inkjet head that is manufactured using photolithographic fabrication. They claimed to have spent $1.4 billion to come up with this method. I don't believe it because Canon has been using this method now for many years. In fact I wouldn't doubt it if Canon was actually building their heads for them, just as they do build their laser engines.

Canon doesn't build printer heads for HP. But HP is making a shift in strategy towards single-ink tanks. The reason is two-fold: 1 it can't produce print heads with a comparable amount of nozzles cheap enough (they are still inseparably glued to the ink tanks for cheaper models) which means they have a problem to keep up in terms of speed and quality and 2 many customers simply prefer single-ink printers. HP used to make really good inkjet printers, but due to their ink policy I decided against one when I bought my last inkjet.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

HP rarely does anything for itself now-a-days. There was a rumor over a year ago that said Canon was going to build their new ink heads. Whether this was true is another story. It may not be. But it is absolutely true that Canon does build their laser engines.
