Apparently some HL-1440s come with a built-in ethernet card, which means that all you'd need is a simple cable to your home router/switch to put the thing on your network. Since it has a parallel (Centronics) port as well, you can get away with an inexpensive parallel print server instead of the fancier-and pricier-USB print servers. Both my USRobotics 8000A router and my Siemens 2604 router include a print server, and the Siemens cost less than $30 before rebate. Look around for inexpensive routers with print servers, and you may wind up spending less for the router than for a stand-alone print server.
