Hi,

I currently have a Nokia 6600, and I was planning to get a Treo 650. Are there any issues with either Salling Clicker or Bluephoneelite on the Treo 650. I still haven't decided between Verizon and Cingular for service, another ongoing decision. Have all the bluetooth isync issues been resolved? Do you guys watch movies on this thing, how is it? music? aac format? [probably not] any other issues with iCal or address book [can i finally sync my groups?] have you guys been able to use it as a modem for your powerbook? how is the email 'push' feature from Verizon? how is the screen resolution? speed of the palm [is it slow]? any other issues?

I just ordered my Verizon Treo 650 (switching from T-Mobile Nokia 3650 so I can get some decent goddamn reception). I'll let you know how it goes!

I do know that Kinoma player can play unprotected (or JHymn'd) AAC files. Costs $20.

If you want a cheap data plan, T-mobile definitely is great. $5 or $20 depending on whether you can get away with abusing the TOS on the cheap plan. And I've liked the ease of using my phone overseas on GSM networks. However, the reception in new york happens to be pretty lousy, and from what i understand cingular isn't much better. so personally i've no choice but to go back to (expensive, feature-slow, but excellent) verizon. YMMV.

There is a specific Palm OS version of Salling Clicker. I don't use it, but I did try it a while back and it works on the Treo 650. Bluetooth has gotten better with recent firmware updates for the Treo as well. Group sync still doesn't work. Resolution of the 650 is world's better than the Treo 600. You can read a review of the Treo 650 that I wrote when it first came out here. Check out the other articles at TreoCentral and also the forums for better answers to your questions.

Just wanted to add that AeroPlayer also supports unprotected AACs.
And my reading indicates that GSM networks like Cingular are much better for serious data use, because they run down the battery less, are cheaper, and are much less likely to cause you to miss incoming calls.

I'm content to be locked in to Verizon because the reception in New York for Cingular/T-mobile just isn't that great, but if you're looking at extensive data use you should keep it in mind.

I use the T650 as my wireless modem via bluetooth with my Powerbook and iPaq which I recently got... I may want to downsize if the iPaq will sync well with the new pocketpc version of missing sync coming out soon though. Oh yeah, check out the core media player!! On the iPaq it's great!!! I'm sure it's just as good for the Treo.

I think I'm about to do the same thing.
