I have an (internal) SCSI hard disk from a SGI I would like to use with a non-scsi ready PowerMac B&W, so I was seeking about the possibilities I have, is this card Adaptec PowerDomain 29160 the only one available to accommodate an internal SCSI hard disk?, it is expensive as hell !
The system is Mac OS 9.2.1

Somebody has suggested me going for a Adaptec DowerDomain 39160 to get the most from the dual SCSI channel even when the card is even more expensive. He told me that getting the PC model and flashing it would be enough, firmware is available in the Adaptec site.

There may be other scsi cards out there, but IIRC, they are all fairly expensive.....probably more than your whole computer is worth.
And, except for a few diehard pro uses, scsi is a dead technology, with little or NO support in current or future OS's (mac or otherwise) and NO future development or upgrade paths
Unless you have or plan to use several other scsi devices with that computer, I would recommend that you sell that HD, and buy a Serial ATA card & HD, which together would still cost you way less than the scsi card alone.
Plus, with SATA devices, you would have:
A) Ø configuration hassles, no chain termination or ID #s involved
B) Devices that could be moved over to newer machines later on if needed
C) Similiar performance to all but the very highest end scsi devices.
D) No need to attempt flashing a peecee card, which may or MAY NOT work nor be 100% reliable
And BTW, Adaptec was the OEM SCSI card supplier to Apple for many years, and it seems to me that they became very arrogant and decided they could charge whatever they wanted for their stuff and mac users would just pay the price, regardless..... of course that was back when there was NO other viable options or competition too

Sorry, SCSI isn't dying anytime soon. It may be dead on Mac OS, but certainly not on other OS's, especially in the server market. I manage several database servers at my work and SCSI provides almost 5x the performance over SATA. The same goes for anything that requires a lot of random reading and writing to disk.
For the desktop market, SATA should do fine.
Regarding flashing the PC SCSI card to Mac, anyone have any articles on this? I have a 29160 that I'd love to use in my G5.
