I assume this is the new connection type that won't accept my older pin-type internal drives
inside my older G4 Powermac?

Is this the right connection type if I get this HD?:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.8, 400GB Hard Drive

Thanks!

Just make sure it's a Serial ATA (SATA) drive. It should be clearly marked as such. Any SATA drive should work fine in a G5 (well, it may need to have a SATA power connection, I'd guess nearly all have that by now).

The ones you do NOT want are called Ultra ATA or Parallel ATA drives.

7-pin Serial ATA?

CDW has the 400 Gig Barracuda Seagate for $320.

I've never counted the number of SATA pins. SATA is SATA.

I think that drive is cheaper here:

Though I have no ideas on the reliability of the seller.

I'd stick with Newegg.
