Hey, I'm trying to find a good TWAIN scanner that I can use in conjunction with Adobe Acrobat (Acrobat can control TWAIN scanner and scan directly to PDF, which is what I want it for).

In terms of quality it pretty much just needs to do color scans that will look nice and clear when printed on our office color printer (a Xerox Phaser 8400 solid ink printer). We probably won't be using any higher than 300 dpi.

Any recommendations?

Oh yeah, a document feeder would be nice too.

Hmm, so far all I've found that isn't ridiculously priced, has Mac drivers, and has a document feeder is the HP Scanjet 5550c for $300.

What's a TWAIN printer?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Bloody hell... Yes, I mean a scanner.

Any chance a mod could fix the subject for me?

Thanks tooki.

I've been looking around a little more. Does anyone know if the Microtek ScanMaker 5950 Pro is Mac compatible? It's listed at MacWarehouse, but the specs say it requires Windows. The Microtek website seems to say no.

I forgot to mention, we want a legal-size scan area not just a letter-size one.

Microtek's Mac support sux bigtime.........

even Vuescan only has limited support for their stuff, mainly because it's developer says he has had a REAL hard time getting any info from them since OS X came out..........

Check out Canon and/or Epson scanners.........

I have an older Epson Perfection 1250 that scans directly into Photoshop, and many other apps using their TWAIN plug-in and control s/w. IIRC, others here have had good luck with the newer models of Epson scanners, and Canon's too

Wow, Canon's web page BLOWS, but at least their scanner will work with OS X and are nice and cheap. Sadly, they're all 8.5/11 and none of them have document feeders, but I think I can live with that.

Any idea if the email and pdf buttons and such on the LiDE scanners actually work on Mac?

I'm going to try out my dad's Epson with Acrobat and see if it works tonight.
