I will be ordering an iMac G5 today, and I have been looking for a good wireless mouse. I would say the top 3 things I'm looking for are (in order of importance):
  • multi-button
  • wireless, preferably RF
  • charging cradle

I have looked at as many as I could find, mainly the Logitech MX1000, the Kensington StudioMouse Wireless, the DV Forge Mouse BT, and the Macally BT Mouse (which has not yet been released).

I like the MX1000, but I almost think it could be too much mouse for what I need.
I really like the look of the StudioMouse, but I've read the "scroll pad" is flaky.
The DV Forge fits the bill, if only it had a charging cradle and was RF.
The Macally looks good, not sure if it will come with a charging cradle or not, but being BT worries me a little.

I am not a big gamer, I don't play that many big games on Mac, mainly "smaller" games, so I don't think Bluetooth would be that big of a deal.

The main two that really fit the bill are the MX1000 and the StudioMouse.

A few queries:

As far as the StudioMouse, I've read that you can use the scroll pad as a button (or use it for fast scrolling), but I tend to hate using the tapping feature on my current powerbooks trackpad, so I'm thinking I might hate that as well. However, if the "tapping" on the mouse could be turned off, that might help.

On the MX1000, can you easily assign functions to the different buttons? Expose and Dashboard, for instance.

I do plan on visiting my local Best Buy to see what they have (but since their mice (mouses?) are never hooked to computers, the most I could do is get a feel for one. I don't need to get a wireless mouse right away, so I could potentially wait for something else.

Thanks in advance for any help.
