What the thread title says.

My workplace, a police 911/dispatch center, is looking to streamline our current array of 9 monitors per station with 2 of the giant Apple monitors for each. Unfortunately, we're running WinXP.

The only compatability info I saw on Apple's site was this:

Windows-based PC with graphics card that supports DVI ports with full single-link digital bandwidth and VESA DDC standard for plug-and-play setup. PC support for the 30-inch Cinema Display requires dual-link DVI capability.
I'm not even sure what any of that means.

That'll teach me to speak up in a meeting again.

I think it means that the video card powering the 30" display needs to be dual link DVI capable.

Which means you'll need two of those dual link DVI capable cards in your PC to run two 30" Apple displays

Makes perfect sense. But won't we also need OS-specific drivers for the displays, as well?

No. Displays don't need drivers.

Just convince them to buy it and if it doesn't work offer to buy it off them for cheap. Also, why are they wasting so much money on this? For the price, they could buy four 24" dell lcds.

I understand that they want to have as few displays as possible.
