Why doesn't iSync suport this device?
Anyway, is there any possible method to sync my Nokia 6230 with my iCal and Address Book? I have been searching around Google trying to find a way...it seems some may have found a way by modifying existing software...I just wondered if anyone here would be able to help
Thanks!

The 6230 (I have one myself) runs the series 40 OS by Nokia. No series 40 phones are supported by iSync (only series 60 OS devices). There are a multitude of ways to copy info back and forth between your 6230 and your Mac though its not nearly as neat and elegant as iSync. Phone Director is one piece of software that may help out.
Still .... I love this phone.

I can transfer songs and pictures and videos over Bluetooth, I am just looking for a way to sync my calendar and address book.
Yet I also love this phone.

Support for the 6230 in iSync seems doomed. You can go to the Apple iSync webpage (or search this forum for the link) to put in a recommendation that it be supported, but don't count on it.
For a phone to be supported in iSync, it needs to be popular in California. Forget the rest of the world, find out what's popular in CA and get one of those...

If you are willing to get your hands dirty with some Unixy stuff, the freely available program `gnokii' ( http://www.gnokii.org) should help some.
Using gnokii, I was able to copy the phone book off my Nokia 6230i into a .vcf file (via bluetooth) and import it into Address Book. I used gnokii 0.6.8 and I'm running OS X Panther. Gnokii also supports calendar, SMS, TODO and ringtone related features.
I didn't exactly get the whole "iSync experience", but at least I got my phone numbers backed up
Regards,
Anmol

The 6630 syncs fine. Is the 6230 that much different?

the 6230 is a symbian 40 phone, and no phone running that is supported in iSync.
Seems to me that PhoneDirector for $30 would be the way to go, depending on how much you value your own free time, and how much data you like on your phone. I keep hoping against hope that the next OS revision will support that family of Nokia phones, but practically speaking, it's probably time to move on. Check out the specs on versiontracker.com, they're very impressive.

yes, there's a usb cable. Cingular used to carry it, and perhaps still does online. You can definitely find it by googling. Amazon.com has usb cables for it, of the generic variety. There's always some scepticism about generic cables, but they're certainly cheap enough.
the other alternative is to get a usb bluetooth model. it will be recognized immediately by the Tiger.

thank you for the feedback! in fact i actually have a usb cable from another Nokia phone... my problem is that once i connect my mac to the phone i do not have the possibility to do anything... Phonedirector supports communication only through bluetooth... so i was wondering if i can do something with my usb cable before buying a bluetooth adapter... i would appreciate if someone knows if this is possible...
THANKS!

I have the 6230i and have the same problem. I did find a cool little piece of shareware, called Phone Director that works great with the phone. Have a look on Versiontracker. It allows me to send sms from the computer via the phone, backup up messages and address book etc. I bought it straight away. It was worth the bucks just to be able to enter my address book via the computer keyboard.

Hey Troll, where did you get the 6230i ? Do you live in the US or Europe ? I've been looking for that phone but can only find it from standalone vendors in the $300+ (US Dollar) range. I'd love to find it cheap or as part of a plan somewhere.

I got it in Europe. France. Same as the 6230 but it has a 1 megapixel camera and a better screen. Oh, and EDGE.
