So, with all the hub-hub about Apple's "Mighty Mouse", I got to thinking about the other Mac mice available and how they compare to the Mighty Mouse. Probably the thing I like best of the new Apple mouse is it's scroll ball... that seems like a "mighty" useful feature to me. On the otherhand, I am a little disappointed and concerned with reports that it is difficult to right click with both fingers on the mouse at once. So, what other mice are out there and how do they compare to the mighty mouse and what mouse do you use?
I am currently using a Wacom tablet mouse. I like the using the pen with the tablet, and the mouse is useful (three buttons, scrollwheel, easy to disassemble and clean), but I find it imprecise and somewhat lacking (wish it had more buttons maybe, more quality and a scroll ball!). I've been wanting to buy a "real" mouse for some time now, but I haven't seen anything good enough to sway me, for a reasonable price. (BTW, M$ mice are out of the question for me-- I avoid M$ like the plague).

I believe numbered buttons and scrollwheel in vertical as well as in horizontal direction are a standard protocol. Therefore a mouse with a scrollball should "just" work on Mac and Windows. This particular one doesn't, because it's PS2 only.

So, that's it? A scrollball mouse that's incompatible with the Mac? No other serious multi-button, multi-function mice for the Mac?

OK, so that Trust scrollball thing has PS2 only. Would it work with a Mac through a PS2 -> USB adaptor?

Sure there are, just don't expect to find something akin to the Mighty Mouse's "roll ball."
Microsoft does have side-tracking wheels, but you can't side track and vertical track at the same time, which means it has limited features compared to a "ball."
But Logitech has great multibutton mice for great prices (usually half as much as Apple's mice). I have a Logitech MX310, actually one of their simplest models. It has six buttons, all programmable with USB Overdrive.
