Get a trackball. The Logitech Trackman are very easy to learn to use and very, very comfortable, The extra buttons are also nice.

funny...as a left-hander, i started with my left hand, but moved to the right when i started getting pain. now my right hand is showing wear&tear (after six years)
i'd switch back to the left but it's not possible the way my workspace is set up!
anyway (sorry if i'm rambling)
a trackball is easier on the wrist & arm?
any other suggestions (or any thoughts on the 3m thing?)

A trackback is much easier.

In my own opinion, I would prefer a trackball, but of course the design should be proper and comfortble to my hand to avoid injuries and discomfort, in a manner of speaking

i finally bought a kensington optic orbital trackball..
feels comfortable enough (am using it right now).
i miss the scrollwheel from my mouse.
and while this helps my wrist, seems to tax my fingers somewhat.
also, easy to do broad strokes, but tricky for really precise moves.
still, gonna give it another several weeks (at least).

The advantage of the Logitech Trackman is you use your fingers differently, more ergonomically, than a normal trackball. I've never had finger stress from a Trackman. My wife learned to use one comfortably in about 45 minutes.
And you can be pretty precise with it. I use mine at work with Photoshop and other design apps.

You should get a Wacom Intuos!!
well maybe thats I little pricy... If you guys don't mind me saying so though, I do not really like trackballs... I find that manuvering my mouse is much more easy and precise if I can use my wrist as well as my fingertips.
But if you must go trackball, I would say that anything Logitech is a good bet.
