Can someone with a 30-inch display put in a DVD movie, and upscale it to full screen; and snap a screenshot of it [in tiff preferably, or png/jpeg]?

I'm very interested to get a 30-inch display, and I'm wondering how well Apple's DVD player can upscale the DVD resolution to the full size of the 30-inch display

Thanks so much if you can help!

if you need a place to upload the photo, here's a service that would work perfect ...

I'll give it a try later tonight after work, though I don't think one can take a screenshot using Apple's DVD player. I think you can using VLC (or whatever that other DVD player app is) but don't know how the quality compares to Apple's player. I'll post later if sucessful.

I can tell you that while it looks OK, it does get kind of grainy if you're sitting close. Sitting back about 5 feet will help. Then again, the 30" display has twice the resolution of high-def TVs anyway (way more than say a 30" HDTV). You're essentially blowing up a 480 line picture to 2560x1600. Its gonna be grainy no matter what.

my plan is to use the 30-inch as a main monitor also [sitting back a few feet to watch movies] .... the picture will be grainy, but I'm trying to picture how grainy it'll be

I believe GRAB can be used to take the screenshot when the DVD movie is paused.
