in 10.3.x, my canon i550 worked with airport, every time.
since moving to 10.4.x, it works...rarely.

tried fixes, tried apple support. no luck.
investigating (including apple discussions) i see it is a common problem.

seems canon needs to update it's drivers, but...who knows when & if?

so i am looking for a new printer, and was thinking about the pixma i4200.
but not good if airport printing isn't better!

my alternative is the deskjet 6540.

any thoughts, on either printer, and the airport issue?

Can only advise that I have a Pixma i4000R, which works flawlessly with my PB running 10.4.2, using airport as my only connection between the two.

My Pixma 5000 works fine attached to my Airport Extreme basestation and shared by multiple machines.

I think the Airport is what needs to be updated.

perhaps, as this worked in 10.3.
but, at least according to the apple discussions, seems to happen a lot to canon printers.

just worried that i go for a new canon, and have to *gasp* hook up usb to my powerbook...

maybe the hp is a better bet?

anyone else with a thought (or two)?

You're having software trouble with a Canon, and thinking of switching to *HP* instead?

Um. No.

My IP4000R works pretty well with my AEBS. Not 100% though. I have had it drop off and stop printing half way through a photo (even though the signal should be ok). However the IP3000 I've got when plugged into the base station didn't work so well. Would stop printing half way through a photo quite often, so now only use that via USB.

Problems on both usually happens when my wife decides to print 10 or more photos in one go. I guess this is just a lot of data in one go and either the basestation and/or the printers choke.

I have updated my drivers from the Canon website over the ones that came shipped .

Um. No.

but read my initial post. i can, after 10.3, and a year, no longer use airport to print!
i even changed my setup...the printer is not so close to the desk!

i enjoyed airport printing from my powerbook, and want that function back.

so...???

if i buy a canon printer and have the same problem, i'm back to square one...
