Hey all,

I'm heading over to Japan in about 2 months, and when I do so, will be leaving my old computer (an HP PC, XP Home) at home, and picking up a PowerBook when I'm in Japan. Thus, there will be a period of hoepfuly no more than a week when I will have no computer at all.

I'm planning on backing up all my data onto DVD-R's, and taking these with me, so that when I go to Japan I can still put all my files onto my new PowerBook.

Is there anything in particular that I need to do to ensure that the DVD-R's that I'm burning will be able to be read without any hassles on a Mac?

Also, not directly related, but still - what would be required if I wanted to turn an internal 3.5" drive (either optical or HDD) into an external one?

Thanks!
