hi

mu ata cable that came with my ide controller card has some slight indents/scratches on it-only very small

but

I was wondering could this effect the performance of a hard drive when connected?

I don't think so but it might.
You can always replace it. They're very cheap.

only if the indents were deep enough to crimp or actually break the wires inside the cable. That would cause rather major problems.
