Hi there,
I am in need of some help and advice.
I have a 15" PowerBook running Tiger 10.4.2. and before I upgraded to Tiger, I naturally backed up all my data (10.3.9 Panther) onto a LaCIE 200GB USB external hard drive in case I had problems with the new OS.
Now that Tiger is running OK, I wish to back up my data again - do I simply 'clone' my present system to the external HD over 10.3.9 or do I have to run the Tiger DVD on my PB and do an 'archive and install' on the external HD?
Could anyone please clarify the procedure?
Thanks in advance.

If it's just your data you need to move, then just move over the contents of your home folder to the external drive, telling the OS to replace the older files/folders of the same name.

if you want to back up _everything_, then erase the external drive and clone the internal drive over.

Hi ogun,
Thanks for your reply and advice; I was not too sure of the procedure - I guess I needed to check first! Thanks again.
