My local CompUSA has an ATI USB TV WONDER 2.0 for $99... can I connect this to my mac and use the software for the Elgato ATI(etc)2.0 or do I need an Elgato branded one to use Elgato's software?

i bought a hauppage mytv.pvr which apparently has no support under tiger
i want to exchange it but im not gonna get the ATI one if i can't use that too, its a good 20 minute drive to compusa

spoke to someone at elgato... ti'll work but i'd also ahve to buy the software from elgato

The answer is yes, but Elgo won't sell you the software (when I last checked) as they want you to buy through them. Basically if you get a code for their software you can use any PC wonder on your mac, yes, verified by me.

Go to apple.com/ and buy it from them? Go to an Apple store, they carry the Elgato/EyeTV.

What if I already have an older usb eye-tv, do I still need to pay for the same software again even though I already have it. Doesn't seem fair to make me pay an extra $50 for the exact same software I have been using for years. How does the license work anyway. Has anyone with the old usb tuner also tried to connect a new eye-tv? do they both work at the same time?

You can also buy the alchemytv in the Apple store. I actually wouldn't buy anything at the retail Apple store since you can comparison price shop for these items and save between $30-40. Search for both of these items on pricegrabber.com, or pricewatch.com
