I need some help with Display settings

I have a 15" PB, running Tiger, and a 17" LG Flatron L1720P LCD. I hooked the LCD up to the PB, it works fine. What I can't seem to figure out though is how to get the image on the LG to display in the LG's native resolution, it only shows it in the native res for the PB. Also, is it possible to setup the PB so that I can close the lid and not have it go to sleep?
