HELP!
Bought a Lacie D2 250GB external drive yesterday. Hooked it up to the iMac last night, and a cute little icon appeared on the desktop. Imported an hours' worth of DV onto it through iMovie, ejected it and turned off the computer, then went to bed.
This morning, my computer failed to recognize the drive. I've tried all different connections (Firewire, USB) and configurations (drive on first, drive on last), I even tried my wife's iBook, but the drive refuses to be acknowledged!
I wish I could just start from scratch, but how can I reformat a drive I cannot see?
Any clues?
Thanks,
Deft Tungsman

How did you 'eject' the drive, and why did you 'eject' the drive if you were going to shut down the machine?
Have you checked the power supply? The only major problem I've ever had with LaCie drives is the power brick, which has been known to fail without warning or apparent reason. Also, the power connections can work loose despite seeming to just sit still. I would unplug _all_ power connections and then plug them back in. I would also see if the power brick is working. Your local Apple store or CompUSA should have a demo LaCie drive, go there with drive and power brick. If the power brick doesn't work with the demo drive, you have a dead power brick, contact your vendor for replacement. If the drive doesn't work with known working power brick, you have a dead drive, contact your vendor for replacement. You do still have the receipt, don't you?
