I can't get music files to work consistently on my 6230i.

The originals were .m4p (protected .aac) from the iTunes music store. I ripped them to regular .aac on a CD, then reimported them. I then moved those non-DRM'd tracks to my memory card via Bluetooth.

In addition to these .m4a files, I use plain old .mp3 files of older music which I'd ripped from CD.

Most of these songs play just a few seconds, between 0 and 30 or so, before advancing to the next track. It doesn't matter whether their .mp3 or .aac... I can't seem to find a pattern. One out of every 5 songs or so will play fine, all the way through.

Problem #2 is the ID tags of these songs. The .aac songs only have the song title, while .mp3s have the artist, as well. Why don't .aacs show the artist?

I've found that when I transfer files to the phone through bluetooth sometimes the files be it an gif or an mp3 or a 3gp movie or whatever type of file, would more often than not- not show up in the phone or not function properly. When I transfered the same files via a MMC card reader, they worked just fine. I heard from Nokia that there's a firmware update for the phone that supposedly fixes this issue, but you need to take your phone in to an authorized service center for it to be upgraded. I think the latest firmware version is 5.44. To check your current firmware, type *#0000# My firmware is 4.43 and works just fine except for the minor bluetooth issue. I've got a 1gig card in it, it's like a mini ipod!
Other than these minor issues it's a great phone!

Thanks for the insight. My firmwear is ver. 3.30, with a "born on" date of April 21st (of this year). I'll see what Apple/Motorola unveil next Wednesday. If it's $800, only available on Cingular or just otherwise sucks, maybe I'll be in the market for a card reader and a bigger capacity MMC card.

Thanks again, blikum.
