I'm a freelance graphic designer running OSX and Quark 6 in need of an inexpensive but accurate color printer. It needs to render small type clearly and show color with a fair amount of accuracy. Speed is not an issue, nor is networking (though both are a plus), however some files can be large (multiple page Quark documents 50-200mb with support files). The prints will be used for rough client comps and not color proofing. I have not assessed a budget, but just a need. For example, if a $500 color laser is NOT going to fit my needs then its a waste of $500, where as if a $1000 printer will not perform better than the $500 version I've spent too much. Make sense? I'm looking for advice on what to get to fit my needs and how much I need to spend. Thanks.
