I don't know if this is the correct place to post this but I wanted to know if there is a piece of software that I could purchase or download that will allow me to play sounds from the OSX sound system through Airport Express without using iTunes. For example I wanted to play a movie through the Apple DVD Player and have the sound come out of my stereo system wirelessly via Airport Express. Is this feature possible?
Thanks for any help.

You're going to run into about a 3 second delay on the audio mind you. The audio won't match the picture.

Not if he decides to play the DVDs using VLC with the "audio desynchronization compensation" option ticked. That way it will be possible to offset the audio [by a specific number of milliseconds] such that is in perfect sync with the video.

true, you could use VLC with "audio descynch compensation' selected, but you still have to sit there and get the timing right. Its doable, but a pain.

But surely it would just be a one-time setup - spend 15mins getting it right, and that's it ready for any DVD (or video file) you care to throw at it.
