Hi,
I'm using a 1.5 Ghz 12" PB with no internal DVD burner. I was hoping there was a way to still use iDVD 5 to make DVDs and burn them to my external burner. Someone told me to make a disc image or something, but I don't know exactly what to do.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks

I use the patchburn app (www.patchburn.de) to get support for my external dvd burner. Could that help with your burner?

I just went to the site and it states, "Caution! This is a hack! Apple may remove this feature in future versions of iDVD. It should work so far in iDVD 4.0 and 4.0.1." Angelmb, are you using iDVD 4 or 5 with Patchburn successfully?

iDVD 5 likes my homebuilt external DVD-RW (NEC 3520 in old LaCie U&I case) just fine. I was pleasantly surprised.

If you need to make a disc image of your project, click File->Save as Disc Image.

Sure, I have a Philips DVDR1640 (dual layer dvd burner) inside a LaCie d2 FireWire case. iDVD 5 sees this external dvd burner.

In iDVD 5, simply go under the File menu and select Save As Disc Image.

I did a "clean install" and left off iDVD and the rest of the iLife packages except iTunes to save some space in my iBook.
Now, I'm planning to get an external DVD burner.
Since iDVD5 supports external burner, is there a way to install iDVD without doing another "install" of OSX Tiger?

Never mind, I figured it out.
