Just got the W800i and am having a hell of a time getting the Walkman feature to work properly.

I copied a bunch of music files over to my phone, but in the Walkman application, under "Tracks," they show up twice. The list looks like this.

Back Then
._Back Then
Cool
._Cool
Desperado
._Desperado

Why are they showing up twice and what does the "._" mean? Of the songs which do play, the .aac files show up w/only a song title. No artist or album info transfers, even though this info is in the ID3 tag for every track. Is this a known issue with .aac files?

<sigh> Sorry to be such a n00b. I looked forward to getting this phone to the point where I couldn't even sleep last night... And my out-of-box experience just sucks. I know it's b/c I'm not using the supplied Windows-only software.

Macintosh users... Do you simply drag files from the Finder or from iTunes into your phone's Memory Stick > Audio file?

What is the difference between the "audio" file and the "MP3" file? I couldn't find anything in the user guide specifically addressing this.

Does anyone use Dreamsicle to interface their Mac and their W800?

Any help is appreciated.

those ._ file is invisible in mac osx, but it is visible on pc formatted volumes which is quite annoying. You can download a free utility called "finder cleaner" at http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/16996

just select the (memory card volume) on your desktop and use it to remove those ._file.

As for your other post about the itunes playlist, i don't think you can drag a playlist on your phones, although maybe i am wrong, only the mp3 songs and not the aac files that you bought from itms.

Thanks for the info. In the past 24-hours, I downloaded Dreamsicle and actually paid for it. The software allowed me to "Autofill," just like you would with an iPod shuffle.

All the ID3 tags are correct, as this shareware converts the tracks from iTunes into a format the W800i understands. It is slow as hell. To put 89 songs on my 512 MB card, it took more than an hour... But it worked perfectly.

Dreamsicle also moved my pictures from iPhoto, optimizing them to fit the W800's screen.

I'm finally happy with my phone now. Truly One Device to Rule Them All.

congratulation, my k750 doesn't have the earphone adapter like yours, and the earphone that came with the phone really bad. I'll stick to my ipod for music for now.

The iPod still has a lot of advantages over a converged device. I'm loving my phone now, but am kind of disappointed such an expensive device has such rudimentary PDA functions. You can't schedule a recurring event? WTF!? I've always been a Nokia fan. Even their simple, free-with-your-contract Series 40 phones have better calendaring functions.

For a music-based device, it's also an oversight that it doesn't have a sleep timer. I'd love to be able to have it serenade me to sleep for 45 minutes or so at night. I have to fake a sleep timer by making a playlist that covers the amount of time I want.

Despite the naysayers, I truly believe convergent devices are our future and I welcome it. I'm just still waiting for that one perfect device to do it all... And well.
