I am thinking of getting a Viewsonic 20.1" monitor like this:
Has anyone got one, or have any opinions on it? I am setting up a multple monitor display and am thinking of getting 2 of these to work with both my Powerbook and my PC (not at the same time). It is either this or perhaps a Dell 24", but I have heard bad thing about them in particluar a high pitched squeal that seems to be a recurring problem.
Anyway thoughts?

no linky shows up
But generally, both the Viewsonics and the Dell 24" seem to get rather good reviews around here, and at other mac forums. ANd the dell is considerably less $$ than the apple 24" too

go look in local stores, see if you can find those or similar models on display, and check 'em out that way first. A good idea is to take a 2 or 3 identical CD's of your photos/pics with you and open them on several systems at once, so you will have a reference point to use as a comparison.......

I'm a big fan of the Dells. I have both the wide and the normal 20.1's on my desktop right now, and the original 'normal' 2001FP is almost the perfect display. Excellent color out of the box. very much unlike the Apple 23" at work. I also really like the inputs on it, in addition to DVI and VGA it has S-video and regular ols composite yellow-RCA plug video in. To make these extra inputs useful, it also has picture-in-picture that you can control, move the inset window around, make it bigger or smaller, etc. It also does a very good job of taking the TV signal (it's near my satellite receiver at home) and rez-ing it up to full screen, so it's a 20" LCD TV as well.
All of the above also applies to the 2005FPW as well. The 2005 is hooked to the G5, the 2001 is hooked to my eMachines gaming PC. They've both been rock solid and (knock on wood) neither has a dead pixel anywhere. Excellent controls, unlike the frustrating LaCie CRTs on the stations at work. I mean really excellent controls, the built-in UI is nicely designed and 'elegant' (for a Dell).
