Like many, I'm disappointed with Mighty Mouse. It just doesn't work well.

But I like the idea of a Mac-styled multi-button mouse. I recently saw the HP Optical 5-Button Mouse at my local CompUSA. It looked promising. Link Here. The white and silver model is very "Mac-like" in appearance and looks great with my Apple keyboard at home and my Powerbook on the road.

I didn't read the box carefully when I bought it, though, and got it home to find that there are no Mac drivers for it. None of the extra buttons worked. Bummer.

As a last resort, I downloaded the SteerMouse drivers from the Apple site (here) and they work great. Full 5-button functionality in a mouse that works well and looks as good as Mighty Mouse.

My main point in posting this is to suggest that mice without Mac drivers can still work just fine using Mighty Mouse drivers.

Try this software: http://www.usboverdrive.com/

Also, for historic information, HP was the designer of the Microsoft's Intellimouse. Yep, that's correct, MS hired HP to design their mouse. I have several Intellimouse's that I use and love, but the new Mighty Mouse, once you are used to it, is actually very nice for a first try by Apple.
