I though I was a tech guy until this issue arose. I use a 512 thumb drive to quickly move files from my G5 to my powerbook. I recently moved so I had to take tear my g5 down and set it back up. Now the hub I plug my thumb drive into is really slow. The only thing that may be different is a cable. Is there such a thing as USB 1.1 and USB2 cables? If so how can I tell where the old cable is???

Where did you plug it in, the keyboard?

To answer your original question, no, there are no different kinds of cables.

The keyboard is blue tooth

The mouse mouse is plugged into my monitor. I have a RF mouse. But that is how it was set up before....

So the USB hub is attached to the G5, correct? And it's exactly the same setup you had before you moved? If the hub was new, I'd say maybe it's not a 2.0 hub.

Can you just use the USB port on the front of the G5? That seems most convenient if the port's not already taken, and the tower is accessible.

I second that. Ditto for the keyboard, Apple keyboards have only USB 1.1 hubs built into them. I would suggest you plug it in directly on your Mac. It should work fine then.

Yes it is a new hub usb2. And yes it is plugged directly into the back of the G5. Keyboard it BT ao no problwms there. If I plug the Jumpdrive into the Front of the g5, its 4x faster than the hub.

Are USB1.1 ans usb2 cables the same?

That could be the only difference.
