Aloha,

I replaced my apparently defunct OWC Mercury Elite FireWire (lasted one year under very very light usage) enclosure with a MacAlly FireWire 400 PHR-100AF. After a bit of toil and struggle, I eventually got the MacAlly to mount and all of my data is still intact on the HD.

The MacAlly PHR-100AF has a power switch (on/off) on the back. It doesn't seem to do anything, the unit is "on" no matter if the switch is set to on or off.

Do you have the same MacAlly unit? Does your power switch behave the same way or does yours actually do something?

I'm trying to figure out if I need to return the unit to Amazon.

Thanks!
