I have a Dual 2.5GHz PowerPC G5 with an ATI Radeon 9800 XT graphic card.

The ATI Radeon 9800 XT got one ADC and one DVI-I connection.

The DVI-I connection goes to my 20" Cinema Display.

I wan't to use the ADC connection to connect to my TV as a second display?

The adapters I want to use:

ADC to DVI Display Adapter part nr: T2774G/A

Apple DVI-til-video-adapter part nr: M9267G/A

Would I have any problems if I use those adapters together?

Is there an ADC to s-video adapter available?

I wouldn't expect double-adapters to work.

ADC is DVI plus USB and power. DVI doesn't actually carry s-video. The way the DVI-S-video adapter works is to actually just tell the graphics card "Hey! I'm not a DVI display, I'm this funky adapter! Please output S-video instead of DVI!!!" (Since Apple doesn't sell an ADC-s-video adapter, it's unlikely that the ADC port would even consider checking for an S-video adapter on it.)

What I would do is buy those two adapters, and then run the TV via the DVI-S-video adapter, and the Cinema Display via the ADC-DVI adapter. There won't be any loss in quality, but will be guaranteed to work.

I don't think the adapter tells the graphic card to send out a S-video signal, it just change the DVI-signal to a S-video signal...
But I can see the problem that the graphic card don't see that there is a "Display" connected tru 2 adapters.

This is a good solution for me if it works.
If the Cinema Display doesn't lose any quality tru the ADC-DVI adapter, I would go for it...

Thanks for the answer tooki

Nope, it doesn't -- changing DVI to S-video would require a very expensive and very large device. It is not converting the signal, it is using the S-video output capability of the graphics chip. That is also why this adapter does not work with previous models of DVI cards -- they don't know to even look for the adapter, much less how to put s-video signals onto the DVI connector.

But yeah, the solution I gave you should work perfectly.

Ok.

Thanks again, tooki.

I will have the adapters on saturday, and report back here how it works out...

Please do! Confirmation of success/failure is a useful bit of info that many people forget to post!
